Want List Records is an awesome addition to Belmont!💖 The owners purchase and sell a wide variety of albums & CDs, and they have turn tables so you can listen to them in the store too. Record shopping again was so much fun, & it feels warm & welcoming inside with the artist gallery too. Go visit!🎶💽🎶
Best new record store in recent years, the place always has a bunch of gems in stock. The owners are great dudes, new arrivals bin is always popping, what more could you ask for?
My favorite spot for used records in the Boston area. Everything I’ve ever bought from Want List has been fairly priced and in great condition. What stands out compared to other record stores is how clean their records are - it’s clear that they put in the extra effort to clean up the records they sell. Even things I’ve bought from their “well loved” bin have been in really good shape. They also are very deliberate about their selection, and there’s none of the usual “filler” records that no one is interested in - everything is carefully selected.The owners, Brian and Dave, are very knowledgeable, friendly, and above all, honest. At one point, they had a somewhat rare pressing that I had been trying to find for quite some time, and not only did they price it very reasonably, they assured me that if I wasn’t happy with it, that I could bring it back for a refund. But no need, because it was in excellent shape, and it’s now one of my favorite records in my collection.I’ve also traded in records, and felt like I got a very fair value for my trades. They are straight forward about their offers on trade ins, and give top dollar if you bring in quality records.If you’re a record collector and are in the Boston area, Want List is a must visit. Looking forward to the opening at their new location in Belmont!
My first visit today at Want List was a pleasant surprise. A small but tidy shop with a well-curated collection across a variety of genres, including exactly the kind of rarities that I've been looking for. Brian and David are super friendly and their passion for vinyl really shows. I'll be coming back.
Small store/business with an awesome collection of music in all different forms. They were so kind and helpful and maintained an awesome atmosphere. Definitely worth checking out as well as all of the little vintage shops in the building.

The wall AND the bins are full of desirable records, and nearly all of them are fairly priced (ie below Discogs averages) and in excellent condition. They buy great collections and the turnover across a month is impressive. The owners have created an intimate, relaxed space.

Possibly the most well-curated record store I've ever been to, and I've been to a lot. In my year of trips to Want List, I've come across a staggering amount of records that I'd never seen in the wild before, from Judee Sill's "Heart Food" to Jodeci's "Diary of a Mad Band" - I almost never leave the store empty-handed. I don't know how Brian and Dave do it, but they reliably source clean, original copies of my favorite music, and I know I'm far from the only person who feels this way. Spend your discretionary income with them - you will not be disappointed.
Long time collector, first time poster. These guys run a friendly shop. No more grumps behind the register. Knowledgable and fair, these fellas price very well, especially in a discogian world. Plenty of easy parking too. Check it out!
I absolutely loved this place. It’s out of my way so have only been once. Went with my then 9yo who was just getting into collecting. The guys brought the crates down on the floor for him to dig through and found him some cool stuff to check out on the turntable in the shop.He got his grail, AC/DC Back in Black, a few others, and I found some great soul, funk, and jazz.Long drive from the Cape, but I’ll be back someday when I’m around the way.
I absolutely love this store. It's in a cool and easy to visit location. The selection is always changing, prices are fair, and the ambiance is spectacular. But the best part is the two owners, Dave and Brian. They are knowledgeable and super friendly and definitely "get" what the old school record store rats are looking for. I pretty much go their every week and I think it's mostly for the really good conversations I have and overhear. I also really like the selection. I don't really enjoy the stores that only sell current re-presses, and I don't like the stores that have a poor treasure-to-trash ratio. These guys offer a well curated selection of interesting titles and are super scrupulous about selling only good condition vinyl. It makes shopping a delight. You should definitely patronize this great store!
Great selection of new and old records. Small so you can check out just about everything but pretty much guaranteed to find something you like. They have a high standard for what they want to sell which means when a record isn't near mint they severely lower the price of it.

Want List Records is a great store and it gives me hope. Hope, despite living in a world where we are inundated with algorithm-generated music and "content" that lacks the human touch. The super-knowledgeable owners of Want List—Dave (see pic) and Brian—have wide-ranging interests and this new store continues to evolve in beautiful ways.On my first trip to WLR, I bought some cool very off-the-beaten track jazz and rock, and the second time picked up three LPs by artists I love—Stevie Wonder, Alex Chilton, and Louis Armstrong—all albums I had never heard or heard of until I walked into the store. It was like that scene in High Fidelity. Every time Dave put on a record, everyone was scrambling to find out what it was.Brian not only co-owns the store; he's written several books about hip-hop and the history of the Boston music and arts scene, and is an endless source of insights. Dave seems to be passionate about artists from every corner of the music universe. This stuff is heavily curated, people.I live in Boston, and while there are some fine vinyl shops here and there, it is well worth the short drive to get over there and see what new stuff has arrived at Want List. I even found myself in a debate with another customer about who was the greater songwriter: Townes or Dylan. This place is a treasure.

Whelp, the Greater Boston area has a brand new record store and boy is it a good one. David Belson and Brian Coleman have put together an amazing space with some pretty incredible records. They have great selections of jazz, rock, soul, reggae, hip hop and some other weirder things too. Not only will you walk away with some great finds but you’ll probably learn about something new in the process. Both guys are incredibly knowledgeable and willing to share in what they know. I can honestly say that I have a new favorite shop to visit when I’m out Boston way. Do yourself a favor and pay them a visit, you won’t be disappointed.
This is a great hidden spot for record lovers looking for reggae, rap, punk, jazz, etc. The proprietors are knowledgeable and helpful and I suspect they are very handsome under the masks.
